No preening 20 somethings with ripped abs and uber tight active wear to workout beside. Just your average, everyday middle age men and women that want to work out and not made to feel like they don’t belong in a gym. You will train with people just like yourself in an environment that is designed to lighten the mood, moment and even your weight.

Pick your weapon, squat…..deadlift…..hang clean……bench……push press and learn how to build this into a 1 rep max. This class is available to anyone that has lifted previously and has shown that they have the technique required to push the limits.

The Prehab class aims to prepare you for what’s coming, how to activate the right muscles post operatively and what type of movements you can do to assist in recovery. The Rehab classes follow on from the Prehab classes, ensuring that you are activating the right muscles, getting you moving correctly again and loading you appropriately.

Suzie began her career as a Registered Nurse before becoming a Sports Injury Nurse and Titled Sports Physiotherapist. Suzie founded Powerhouse Physiotherapy in 2005 and now specialises in injury prevention and athlete rehabilitation. Suzie is the trusted physio for many local, national and international sporting teams and is currently working with the Australian men’s hockey team (the Kookaburras), as they continue their journey towards the Olympics in 2021. Suzie and Glenn know all too well the impact injury has on performance, this is why they teamed up to create Powerhouse Gym Mobility, Strength, Performance.
2 time Olympian and World Cup Goulburn Striker has well and truly made a name for himself in the Hockey arena. Glenn has always had a passion for health and fitness and knows the importance Mobility and Strength plays in not only performance but athletic development. This is why he developed the Athlete Academy. Sessions designed to improve Mobility, Strength and Performance in young upcoming athletes.
Nick is our head trainer here at Powerhouse Gym, with over 10 years experience in the industry, from Personal training to group functional fitness and sports strength and condition coaching. Nick’s passion is creating workouts that are accessible and efficient for all. Programming should be about progression and utility, promoting strength and performance first and foremost. Consistency and effort are Nick’s Core Philosophie’s. Ability and technique will come with time, and his programming reflects that. Training within a group has become the most important part of Nick’s own training which is why he recommends it to everyone. We’re all better together. Nick truly believes that at Powerhouse Gym we have a program that is accessible and challenging no matter what your fitness level. The community and group is what’s most important, and Powerhouse Gym has some of the most amazing people. Nick will tell you that he is definitely lucky in that he gets to see, coach and train with some great people.
Brandon has over 5 years of personal training experience. He is currently in his final year of Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra. He has played rugby union and rugby league for a number of years, as well as competing in track and field athletics. Brandon has a strong interest in injury prevention through strengthening and technique development, as well as working with people from all skill and age levels and client’s with various disabilities in the gym. The knowledge and practical skills that Brandon has gained through studying Physiotherapy has enabled him to bring that skill into the gym to facilitate the best outcomes for his client’s.
Sophie comes from a family with a huge Hockey sporting background and has great enjoyment and passion for fitness, which has shaped her into the person she is today.
Sophie will tell you that being a part of a gym is not about being trim and terrific as they say, it’s about putting in the effort and being rewarded, not only with the results, but the friendships you create in an awesome community like Powerhouse Gym. Powerhouse Gym is Sophie’s home away from home, great team to work with and awesome client’s. When she isn’t in the gym she is busy chasing her daughter around and watching her husband on the hockey pitch.
Brad has always been passionate about fitness, exercise and eating well and so it was only natural that he would work in the fitness industry. He has been a PT for almost five years having completed a Certificate 3 and 4 in Fitness and in the process of completing a Certificate 2 in Strength and Conditioning. Brad’s specialty has been one-one training and creating targeted customised programs that deliver real results to the client. Brad’s favourite aspect of being a PT is not only the ability to educate his clients on how to lift weights correctly and exercise with good form but to motivate them so that they get the most out of each training session. This is achieved through on-going communication and building strong relationships with his clients.
Not only does Brad enjoystraining others but he loves regular gym workouts, focussing on strength and hypertrophy training, and playing Indoor Cricket for the ACT and First grade outdoor cricket.
Brad’s aim as a PT is assisting his clients in reaching their full potential and reaching their health and fitness goals in a fun and upbeat environment.
